And I find it kinda funny

I find it kinda sad

The dreams in which I'm dying

Are the best I've ever had

I'm finally back from China!

Well, actually, I've been back for about a week now, I just haven't gotten around to uploading the pictures or updating my journal.

All in all, it was a pleasant experience. I've met people I'm thankful I have, made some new friends, and seen things and understood things I never knew before. An eye-opener? Most definitely. But I wouldn't go there on a package tour again if I had a choice.

I took some pictures, but I'd like to warn you; graphic intensiveness ensues.

DAY ONE: SHANGHAI PUDONG

China Eastern Airline food. Ew.

This was the fish and rice meal my mom and I had on China Eastern Airways.. It was bland, soggy and UGH.

Maglev

Maglev Train in Shanghai. We headed to the station (just a few minutes worth of walking) almost immediately after landing in Shanghai Pudong International Airport. It can go up to 430km/h! Scary. You see trees and buildings just whizzing by. Maglev means Magnetic Levitation. Honestly, I was paying attention to the tour guide giving the explanation on this Maglev train, but after 8 days, it was all lost on me. I'm such a n00b when it comes to the lack of technology..

Mommy!

Mommy just before boarding the train. :)

Long train...

Super long train... It's even longer than the MRT line. The seats are quite comfortable too.
See the little "0km/h" thing up there? It updates as it runs.

431kmh

See what I mean by updating?
This was the highest number I could catch. I believe it WAS the highest speed.

Maglev

Exiting the train. Some of us felt queasy, and I believe one even threw up in the bin.

Station

My uncle (mom's sister's husband) and Mommy standing in front of the Longyang Rd station map.
Where's Longyang? No clue. I was there for the photographic opportunity. ;)

Ningpo Tangyuan Dian

We took a bus to Cheng Huang Miao or the City God Temple. It's not a temple at all, more like a shopping district. The buildings look like a temple's, though. Got a pretty nice teacup for cheap over here.
That's Ningpo Tangyuan Dian or Ningpo Soupball Shop in the picture. Tangyuans are actually a hot dessert, like little glutinous rice dumplings with nut or bean paste stuffing (I think there are lotus paste ones too), boiled and served in a sweet soup. It's actually quite tasty.

Dairy Queen?!

Dairy Queen?! In SHANGHAI?! I thought Chinese had hereditary lactose intolerance. :P
This was also found in the City God Temple. Pardon the shaky hand; it was cold and my hands were shivering; I was a genius to have my gloves stashed in my check-in luggage.

Starbucks

I just had to take a picture of Starbucks in such a building setting. It's beautiful. So... oriental.
Well duh, I was in China. *smacks forehead*
I had the chance later to have a nice warm drink in there. When temperatures dip to 0ºC (32ºF), frappucinos are NOT an option.

I'll upload the rest later on separate posts so as not to overwhelm.

To whoever you are, wherever you are, I love you. I probably don't know you yet, but when I do, I'll know, and so will you. And you'll love me for who I am, as will I.

You might be living in my neighbourhood, or some other town or country far away. I don't know. And neither do you, at this point.

Wherever you are, I know I'll find you... if you don't find me first.

It's just a matter of time.
