[rant] Honestly, I hate taking public transport, such as the bus or the MRT. Public transport in the USA (doesn't matter which state you're in) is kinda creepy. Public transport here is downright annoying. Not because of the inconvenience (because it actually is very convenient), but because of the other commuters. Seriously, little teenage girls. Not all of us wants to listen to the latest cover of Rihanna's Umbrella on your mobile phone, nor do we want to listen to the rambled mispronunciations of Zhou Jie Lun so-called singing. Also, not all of us simply adore the Black Eyed Peas or Fergie. Why? Are earpieces out of your budget? Stop buying Roxy handbags to use as schoolbags then, and give the rest of us some peace! Oh, I'm not stopping there. I am not racist, but I have noticed that Indian Nationals do the exact same thing as Singaporean teenage girls, by blasting their banghra music on their mobile phones, or the latest Bollywood tune. Please be more considerate to other commuters. That aside, there are also the "zi lian kuang" girls, or the narcissistic girls who check themselves out in almost every shiny surface, like the MRT doors. If you want to check yourself out, go buy a bloody mirror, don't stand in my way or I'll just elbow my way out, and I'm not kidding. To those two girls standing at the doorway trying to look "cute" to your own reflections in the MRT door, I am NOT sorry I had to push my way out to get onto the platform. And people wonder why I take cabs all the time. [/rant] . // prawninator | 01:01 + ~ A friend of mine suffered a loss today. Her father had just passed on and she was still in a pretty big daze when I found out, and when I called almost 7 hours later. My sympathies and my heart go out to her and her family and I'm keeping them in my prayers, too. It's at this point of time that all I can (and want to) do is to envelop her in a big hug. After writing a testimonial for Linus to aid his immigration process, I broke down before emailing it to him. It hurt to think about it. Basically what I wrote in the testimonial was four years of a close friendship crammed into half an A4 page of text. It wasn't easy, I wanted to write so much more, but as advised, I kept it short and concise. So, Linus is leaving for Belgium some time in July. I would honestly hate to see him go, but we all have to go seek our own destination one way or another. Earlier on we were discussing how to keep in contact with crappy timezone differences. Jane, Dongli and Wenting in Singapore, Linus in Europe and me further back in the United States. Just thinking about him leaving and my eventual departure made me sad, too. He said that it will help us be constantly connected, no matter where we are. When I mentioned that he was making me cry, he said, "That's why instead of crying, I'm thinking of solutions." So okay, his solutions are making me cry. I can't bear to think of how much I'll miss Linus. Linus, Jane, Dongli, Ting and Mich have made up my more stable circle of friends (the others are gamers, go figure), and we've hung out almost every other week or more for the past four years or so. It's not something you can just leave and let go. I know which ones of us will cry when Linus finally flies to Belgium, and I know I'm going to be one of them. I'm just wondering if people will feel the same way about me leaving, too. That selfish thought aside, I'm also wondering if our friendship would be the same across the continents. It won't be exactly the same of course, with a few of us not physically there to participate. It's painful to consider. We'd have entirely different things to talk about, and although it might be a refreshing change for a while, sometimes what you need is familiarity. ... anyway, I'll think about this later. . // prawninator | 23:54 + ~ I have recently begun posting regularly in a photography community called mylife_onceaday, not that I'm much of a photographer, though I love taking photographs. My camera sucks, but using Linus' has made me understand how different cameras can make shots look better, or in the case of MY camera, worse. this is still my favorite shot of Linus and Jane I went to Daiso yesterday on a whim because Linus and I were in Plaza Singapura waiting for Jane and Dongli to go eat and meet up with Wenting for her birthday. Bought several packets of instant cupcakes while I was there. Like I mentioned in the community, I only go there for three things. #1. Muscat Grape Drink #2. Chopsticks #3. Instant Cupcakes I mostly avoid it because of the kiasu crowd that seems to live there. So it's Easter Sunday and I was in bed all day due to a sudden fever. I seem to be getting sick very often recently, I probably should go get it checked up. Anyway, guess what I had for breakfast? You guessed it. Instant cupcakes! In the process Looks like a cappuccino, eh? Instant Gratification! No, it really IS a cupcake! It doesn't taste perfect, and leaves a lot to be desired, but what do you expect from something cheap and instant? I prefer the caramel on top of the others, though I haven't tried the mocha yet. Not a coffee fan. :) . // prawninator | 22:49 + ~ I celebrated my 24th birthday just this Sunday as most of you know. Now, most of my friends know me as "Prawn" (another word for shrimp. Nothing to do with my size, believe me) and its variants, like "PrawnSoup" or "Prawninator" (therefore the LJ name). However, Ric and Vyana did not know what to get me as a present. I tell them what I always tell them when they go overseas and try to find souvenirs for me. "Go out with an open heart and open mind, and if you see something that TOTALLY reminds you of me, get it." That's what I told them, so on Tuesday when I met up with the WoW guys, I was presented with the cutest phone charm I've ever seen. Isn't it just the CUTEST THING ever?! It looks good enough to eat! I actually had been eyeing the little thing for a while in Bugis prior to the meeting, so they were right on the ball! :D . // prawninator | 13:13 + ~ First they came up with this: Sassari Then this: Adara And now, THIS: Cyprus I'm sold. I'm going to save up to buy a Cyprus pair in Silver/Lavender. What say you? . // prawninator | 00:49 + ~ I turn 24 in three days, on the 16th. ... Damn, I'm getting old. . // prawninator | 23:53 + ~ I haven't been blogging much as of late. It really doesn't matter, considering the fact that I don't have many interesting things to say to begin with. Sooo... let's start this off with what I've been doing lately. While I was still in the States, I managed to purchase a little hobby drill, a Dremel tool. It's a great little rotary tool, with attachments for you to sand, buff, drill stuff, or even screw stuff at varying speeds. I got myself a cordless, battery-powered hand tool with a 1/32" collet and bit. Why a 1/32" bit? That must be tiny! I hear you ask. Well, recently I've started a new hobby, something I wanted to work on while I was in the States but didn't have the resources as yet. I've started drilling dice, and turned them into jewelry. I don't incorporate beads, as the colors of the dice are already bright and each die is unique, so attention shouldn't be distracted from them. With standard size dice, I can make both earrings and necklaces. If you desire to have a set, please let me know which kind of die (d4, d6, d8, d10, d10 percentile, d12, d20) you would like and what color you prefer. I will then set out to try and find and purchase said dice and hope you like the color. Then again, I've hardly gone wrong with colors in regards to dice. ;) Earrings are $12 a pair (lots of work go into it, believe me) and are attached to 925 silver ear hooks. If you would like normal non-precious metal ear hooks, they're cheaper, at $10. Necklaces are currently $15. All prices are in Singapore Dollars and does not include S&H. My current set of mini-dice comes in a set of 7 (d4, d6, d8, d10, d10 percentile, d12, d20, typical dice set) and under no circumstances will I split the set. The whole set goes for $17, and are a beautiful pearlized navy color with gold numbers. Mini-dice are attached to 925 silver ear hooks. The earrings may look large at roughly 16mm, but honestly, when they dangle off your earlobe, it's stunning. I highly recommend the Green Borealis, or the Aqua Cirrus. The mini ones are much smaller, at about 10mm. I have pictures of my work on my Photobucket Album as sites like Etsy work very much like the Ogrimmar Auction House and charge a fee for every listing made. Currently, my album has all but two sets of earrings I have already made, as they were already sold before I could have pictures taken of them. For the lazy, here are some pictures. Purple Borealis d20 necklace Red Borealis d8 earrings on silver Pearl Navy w/Gold 7pc earring set on silver Purple Lustrous d10 earrings on steel I'm thinking about venturing into the Easter Pink range (Pink Cirrus with gold numbers as opposed to silver). Any suggestions or feedback? . // prawninator | 13:25 + ~ |
To whoever you are, wherever you are, I love you. I probably don't know you yet, but when I do, I'll know, and so will you. And you'll love me for who I am, as will I. You might be living in my neighbourhood, or some other town or country far away. I don't know. And neither do you, at this point. Wherever you are, I know I'll find you... if you don't find me first. It's just a matter of time. . // links | misc + - poorgamergirl auction - email me - [shop] wear your dice - [shop] the poor gamer girl - idm website - idm forums - halloween photos The Poor Gamer Girl Fund :D We could use any help we can get, but you are not obliged to. :) | |
